Autumn 1

In Maths  we will be consolidating our understanding of multiplication by practising our 2, 5, 10. and 3 times tables. We will also begin to learn our 4 and 8 times tables later in the year.  We will be consolidating our learning from year 2 and building onto our place value knowledge to include 3 digit numbers.

In English we will be focusing on the story, 'The Flower' for the first part of the half term. We will be aiming to write our own version of the story and use the skills we have learnt in our toolkit which will include correct punctuation, adjectives, verbs, adverbs and some wow words.

This term in Science we will be looking at plants and how they grow and transport water and nutrients, we will be doing some investigations to find out what happens to the water in plants and how to keep them healthy.

In History we will be learning about the Ancient Egyptians. Why the settled on the Nile and how we have learnt about them as historians using evidence left behind.

To support your children please read their reading book with them and sign this to say this has been completed. We will aim to listen to all children read once per week.

You can also help your children by practising their spellings and times tables each week. Practising times tables now will help children prepare for the times table test which is statutory in Year 4.

You can practise these using PIXL and Sum Dog.

Homework will be given on a Friday of each half term and will need returning by the following Friday.

Thank you for all of your support.
