Year 3

Welcome back to the Year 3 web page. We are exited to welcome you back to school for the Summer Term and hope that you had a lovely Easter Break.

This year Miss Keates will be teaching 3SL on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Shaw  will be teaching on a Thursday and Friday. The LSA's in 3SL are Miss Wachnuik and Mrs Khan. 3TS will be taught by Mrs Zaheer. The LSA's are Miss Wilford, Mrs Devi and Miss Ibrar.

Summer 1.

In Maths  we will be consolidating our understanding of multiplication by practising our 2, 5, 10. 3, 4 and 8 times tables. We will also begin multiplying 2 digit and 1 digit numbers. We will then continue with our work on Fractions looking at 10ths and equivalent fractions.

In English we will be focusing on the story, 'Into the Forest' for the first part of the half term. We will be aiming to write a recount from the point of view of the main character and will include the following skills; past/ present tense, adverbs, paragraphs, inverted commas and subordinating conjunctions.

Our topic is 'The United Kingdom' and this will have a Geography focus. In science we will be learning all about forces, following the Year 3 Science Curriculum.

To support your children please read their reading book with them and sign this to say this has been completed. We will aim to listen to all children read once per week.

You can also help your children by practising their spellings and times tables each week. Practising times tables now will help children prepare for the times table test which is statutory in Year 4.

You can practise these using PIXL and Sum Dog.

Homework will be given on a Friday of each half term and will need returning by the following Friday.

Thank you for all of your support.

The Year 3 Team!
