Leading Parent Partnership Award
Leading Parent Partnership Award January 2020
In June 2016 St Matthew’s School achieved the Leading Parent Partnership Award. In order to achieve this school had to demonstrate that it works in partnership with our parents, for the educational benefit of the children and the good of our community.
We had to demonstrate that we achieved 8 different objectives, each with between 5 & 9 different strands. That’s a lot of targets!
Objective 1: The school demonstrates a commitment to work towards achieving LPPA (3 subsections)
Objective 2: The school makes and implements effective plans to achieve and maintain the award. (3 subsections)
Objective 3: The school is a welcoming, communicative and friendly place for parents. (9 subsections)
Objective 4: The school promotes the awareness and participation of all groups of parents in supporting their children’s learning and developing their own learning. In addition, the school holds and actively promotes a programme of opportunities and events for joint parent and child participation. (9 subsections)
Objective 5: The school provides a good induction for all new parents (8 subsections)
Objective 6: The school provides parents with relevant and user- friendly guidance and information to help them support their child’s learning. (8 subsections)
Objective 7: The school produces and implements parent-friendly policies to establish effective home-school links and to improve children’s attendance, punctuality, progress and positive participation in school (9 subsections)
Objective 8: The school provides good support for all parents as their children move through or leave the school (6 subsections)
Objective 9: The school summarises its achievement against the LPPA Objectives and outlines its future plans (3 subsections)
Since then, we have strived hard to keep working towards all these targets, plus a few extras.
We are now due to renew this award. The assessors will be in school in May 2020. We would love some parents to come and join the team putting the assessment file together.
We had an initial meeting on 11th December 2019 and we would like to thank those parents who came along to join us. We will be sending out a date for another meeting.
If anyone would like to help, please see either Mr Murphy, Miss Woodcock Shaw or Mrs Lock.
As a school, we are always keen to develop more aspects of our home-school partnerships. In working towards, the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) our aim is to provide all parents with the tools and support they may need to help their children fulfil their potential
Over the coming months we will be looking at how we support parents in helping their children to learn, at the school environment and how welcoming the school is. We aim to have greater parental involvement in school life and to improve our channels of communication. You can find out more about the award via the LPPA website: www.lppa.co.uk
