Welcome to Year 4!
We have two classes in our year group. They are called 4 Barbara Hepworth and 4 David Hockney.
The classes have been named after a famous Yorkshire Sculptor and Artist.
Barbara Hepworth was born in 1903, in Wakefield West Yorkshire. She was a British artist most famous for her sculptures. Her sculptures are abstract. They usually have smooth shapes and curved lines.
She loved nature and was inspired by the shapes and lines that she saw in it, such as hills and pebbles from the beach. She used materials like wood, stone and bronze and often added strings to her sculptures. Many of Barbara's sculptures are outside in nature and in public places such as parks. Her sculptures often have holes in them so that you can look at the nature on the other side through them.
Here is Barbara Hepworth with one of her famous sculptures! Can you find the names of anymore she designed?

We have a National Multiplication Tables Check in the week beginning 1st June 2026 which is statutory for all Year 4 pupils. This will take place in school and the purpose is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently. Aim to make sure your child is practising their times tables regularly. This can be done through TT Rock Stars online or chanting with them at home.
