Year 3

This half term in Numeracy we are covering data handling, time and measures alongside the four operations. There will be a bigger focus on Maths investigations and two step problems. Children are working hard to complete their times table challenge with some achieving their bronze, silver and gold awards for the 2x, 5x and 10x tables. Keep up the good work!

Literacy will have a focus on developing story writing with a greater emphasis on paragraphing, more complex punctuation and use of ambitious vocabulary. Non-fiction will cover persuasive writing with regards to whale hunting.

In Topic, we are discovering ‘What makes the Earth angry?’ with interesting investigations and exploration of volcanoes. Rocks and soils also forms part of our Science curriculum and we have also taken inspiration from this to make some rock art work. PE this term will cover athletics and rounders. The samba band is still going strong and we look forward to inviting parents to hear us perform again soon.

Homework will be given every Friday. Children are to complete one of the tasks and return their book the following Wednesday. Spellings will also be given on Fridays, please practise them with your child in preparation for the spelling test the following week.

Congratulations to all the year 3 pupils for a very productive year and for the effort they have put in for our Linking Project with Low Moor Primary school.
