SATs News

KS1 Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation SATs paper cancelled.

It has been confirmed by the Department for Education that parts of this year’s KS1 Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation (SPAG) SATs paper has been accidentally published online. As a result, this test has been cancelled for this year only. All other SATs in KS1 and KS2 will go ahead as planned.

As a school, we will still be required to submit a teacher assessment score for English for all children in KS1, based on the work the children have completed in the classroom. At St Matthew’s we intend for the children to sit the SPAG test. It was only the spelling part of the paper which was published online, so we will gather other evidence gathered across the year to support teacher assessments of the spelling statements for the National Curriculum.

If you have any worries or concerns about this situation or SATs in general, then please do not hesitate to contact either your class teachers or Mrs Remmer.
